a college student's revelations about revelation

Revelations started off as such a scary thing to me. It was a battle to tackle. It was a chapter that seemed fearful and unapproachable. But, since I was reading through the New Testament, it didn't seem that any book should be skipped over. So, facing potential fear and confusion, I started to read Revelation. The more I read the more my eyes were opened to the truths the Lord has revealed to us about the things to come. While the future is scary with many things I know I'll never understand, I was made to be excited for the future in store. As a believer, I know I am exempt from many of the sufferings that will occur.

Hearing about the treasures of Heaven and the worship of our Lord made me ready more than ever to sit at the Lord's feet. While the lack of pain and suffering sounds wonderful, I am most excited to be near to Him and to be able to sing His praises forever.

The Lord's character was also more fully revealed to me. I was reminded while he is my Father, he is also powerful, holy, and worthy of fear. He has complete power over Satan. He is worthy of praise and glory. He is fully just, but also fully merciful.

I also was reminded of the pain that will happen to those who deny the Lord. I did not realize the tribulation, suffering, and trials these people would experience. It gave me a clear sense of urgency behind the Gospel message. I do not wish to see even my worst enemy experience what is to come for those who do not follow Christ. Since I can not know the time these things will occur, it makes me want to tell everyone of Christ's sacrifice, not only to keep them exempt from that suffering but because life with Christ is so fully satisfying and purposeful.

While this book was at first a scary venture, it reminded me of who God is and what I am called to do as a result of his character.

Just a thought.  -Kaitlyn :)
